OUR INVESTIGATORS

SHELLY KING, C.F.I.

Shelly King is president of Charles G. King Associates and has been investigating fires since co-founding the company in 1980. She is a court-qualified expert in origin and cause investigations and an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator with private investigator licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. She has contributed articles on fire investigation to Fire Engineering Magazine, The California Fire/Arson Investigator, The Forensic Examiner, and other industry publications. She has lectured on photoanalysis at the Pennsylvania Association of Arson Investigators, the Chenango County Fire Chief's Association, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Arson Task Force.

MICHAEL L. MCCABE

Mike McCabe has extensive experience both as a fire fighter and fire investigator. He retired from the Syracuse Fire Department as Lieutenant/Supervisor of the Fire Investigation Bureau; he is a court-qualified expert in origin and cause investigations, and since 1995 has been an instructor for the Training Division for Cause and Origin Determination for the Syracuse Fire Department. In 2002, Mike McCabe received the Fire Investigation Team Award from the New York State Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.

MICHAEL J. WALSH

Mike Walsh has been investigating fires for Charles G. King Associates since 2001, coming to us with a background as an arson investigator for the Syracuse Police Department, where he also taught arson investigation at the Basic Police Academy, and taught Arson Evidence Collection at the Regional Police Academy. Mike is a court-qualified expert with Level I and Level II Fire Investigator Certifications.

OUR ASSOCIATES

JAMES I. EBERT, Ph.D.

Jim Ebert has worked with Charles G. King Associates for over twenty years on fires involving automobiles, refrigerators, air conditions, microwave ovens, coffeemakers, and the like. With his expertise in archeology and photogrammetry, he is able to visually reconstruct a fire scene using graphics, animation, and all forms of photoanalysis and photo-enhancement. His work with us on a homicide investigation in Waco, Texas was vital to obtaining the conviction of a murderer who had set fire to a shed with his two step-children locked inside. Dr. Ebert is a certified photogrammetrist, a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and a member of the New York State Police Medicolegal Investigations Unit. He is chief scientist at Ebert & Associates in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

DAVID REUBEN

David Reuben is a licensed private investigator and president of DR Associates International in Davis, California. He is a Post Certified Background Investigator and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Prior to starting his own company, he coordinated and directed all investigations for the Special Prosecutions Unit in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. His firm specializes in fraud investigation, litigation preparation, employee backgrounds, asset traces, and surveillance.
